𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀:
- Transition Mapping: We meet with people who feel overwhelmed with the process of transitioning and help them figure out their individual goals regarding social, legal, and/or medical transition, then we help them establish a plan for reaching those goals, and think through things they can do in the moment to feel better in their gender and their bodies while working toward those goals.
- Healthcare and Insurance Navigation (Adults):
Healthcare Navigation: We connect trans Kentuckians with providers in their area based on their individual needs. We help walk them through the process of pursuing HRT
and/or surgery and explain what the process will look like, what surgeons might ask at a consult, how to prepare, and how to advocate for their needs.
Insurance Navigation: We help trans Kentuckians understand their current insurance coverage and what their insurance requires to deem coverage procedures as
"medically necessary" (where you find requirements like mental health support letters, HRT requirements, etc). We also help people whose insurance has denied them
coverage appeal those decisions, help draft appeal letters, and work with them through each stage of the unnecessarily complicated appeal process.
- Healthcare and Insurance Navigation (Trans Youth And Their Families): Similar to what we do with trans adults accessing gender-affirming care, we have formed a network of clinics in surrounding states that are able to see trans youth from Kentucky, we meet with trans youth and their families to connect them to the clinic that works best for their individual situation, explain what that process will look like, and then walk them through the process for getting insurance coverage for out-of-state care. This is where we also connect them with our partner organization, CSE, to get additional funding to cover their care.
We purchase gender-affirming items like binders, tucking underwear, etc for trans Kentuckians who can't afford them.
We also have a surgical grant program that awards $2,500 to a trans-Kentuckian seeking gender-affirming surgery once every quarter (we will be adding another for 2025, so it will be five next year instead of four)

Utilizing our community knowledge from over 8 years supporting Trans Kentuckians accessing healthcare and centering skills based bioethics principles like empathetic care, we provide training for medical providers and other healthcare workers who want to ensure they are providing the best care to their Trans patients.
We also host regular virtual community education events and create resource guides for patients that fill existing resource gaps and provide immediate answers for commonly asked questions like how to get a legal name change in KY, you can find those here: https://airtable.com/app84XQZoLgcbm3Is/shrUfe8yX5dJEFqxy
