Help is Available

The Courier Journal has an article on how to get assistance during the  pandemic. Help is available for people facing eviction, struggling to get enough food, or having trouble paying their rent or utilities.

Community Engagement Meeting Tonight

Tonight at 6:30 PM is the first meeting of the Louisville Pride Community Engagement committee for 2021. If your new years resolution is to get involved, this is the perfect place to start! 6:30-7:30pm.

Legislative Statement

The Louisville Pride Foundation Board of Directors has expressed support for the following state-wide initiatives:

Ending no-knock warrants (House Bill 21)

Banning conversion therapy (House Bill 19; Senate Bill 30)

Making bars safer for all patrons (House Bill 173)

Supporting Trans & Nonbinary People In Male Dominated Fields

Amplify Louisville and Civitas, the regional LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, have put together a panel discussion for the Louisville tech & startup community and Queer entrepreneurs on how larger organizations can support LGBTQ entrepreneurs and employee. This free event is tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:00 PM.

Black Trans Louisville

Anyone who was on this month’s LGBTQ+ Community Response Network Call knows that there is a new group forming for Black trans people in Louisville. Black Trans Louisville is conducting a community needs survey and starting a virtual community on Discord. To learn more, find them on Facebook or send an email.

Apply for a $5000 JustFundKY grant

Every year JustFundKy awards grants of $1000- $5000 to individuals and groups working to advance the fair treatment of LGBTQ Kentuckians. This year, they are focused on anti-racist work and rural outreach.

The process is straightforward and simple, so even if you have never applied for a grant, you should take a look. Letters of inquiry are due by March 1st.

Louisville LGBTQ+ Book Club

The Louisville LGBTQ+ Book Club is meeting online, and this month’s book is Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me by Mariko Tamaki. The next meeting is February 9th.

The group is deciding on one of several mysteries to read for March. You can chime in on the Facebook poll!

Trans-Inclusive Workplace 101

Queer Kentucky is offering an online edition of their popular workshop on February 25. This workshop consists of a one hour presentation on trans-inclusivity that is geared toward a general audience of people who employ and/or work alongside trans people, followed by a thirty minute Q&A with the workshop facilitators. Tickets are $10.
