Reports To: Healthy Community Manager

Job Type: Part-Time (20 hours per week) Grant-Dependent Contract Work

Salary: $25,000 annually

About the Louisville Pride Foundation: The Louisville Pride Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving the LGBTQ+ community in Louisville. Our foundation provides culturally sensitive services and aims to improve health outcomes through various programs, including Early Intervention Services (EIS), psychosocial support, and outreach.

Position Summary: The Part-Time Counselor/Social Worker is responsible for conducting regular counseling sessions that offer emotional support, coping strategies, and resilience-building exercises tailored to the specific needs of those affected by HIV/AIDS. The role involves developing a therapeutic relationship with clients, assisting them in addressing issues related to living with HIV/AIDS, and helping them navigate the psychological impacts of their diagnosis. This role will also support and integrate all activities and programs associated with the grant proposal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular individual and group counseling sessions focused on emotional support, coping strategies, and resilience-building.
  • Assist clients in addressing issues related to living with HIV/AIDS, including stigma, discrimination, and mental health challenges.
  • Provide crisis intervention and immediate support for clients experiencing acute emotional distress.
  • Coordinate with team to ensure holistic care for clients.
  • Support and integrate activities and programs associated with the grant proposal, including educational workshops and community outreach.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting all counseling sessions and interventions.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the Louisville Pride Center and its programs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least two years of professional experience in counseling or social work.
  • Experience working with individuals affected by HIV/AIDS or other chronic health conditions preferred.
  • Strong understanding of issues facing the LGBTQ+ community and a commitment to providing culturally competent care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
