At the beginning of the new year, Ebony Cross became Louisville Pride Foundation’s new interim Executive Director. Ebony has worked with Louisville Pride Foundation since September 2022. In this letter, featured in this February’s email newsletter, Ebony introduces her new role at Louisville Pride Foundation. In Ebony’s own words:
Hello new and loyal readers! My name is Ebony Cross and I’m the new interim Executive Director of Louisville Pride Foundation. I would like you all to know me better, so I thought to address everyone in our first e-newsletter of 2024. What a way to start the New Year! I’ve been with the Louisville Pride Foundation for two years this September and what a ride it has been.
My commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community is immeasurable. Being able to provide resources and safety to our community is what brings me joy. My family brings me joy and motivate me to do the work that I do. My vision is to intentionally do my part in the world by leading with kindness, ensuring inclusivity and being an advocate for marginalized groups in various ways. Being in this role allows me to do that and our community center is the centerpiece.
For those of you who don’t already know, Louisville Pride Center hosts amazing events and programming that bring fun, unity, education, solace, healing, and an opportunity to meet courageous and extraordinary people. Those people include our staff, volunteers, visitors and you all in the community. Our programming and events include, Game Nights, Ask the Expert Panels educating and discussing financial responsibility, mental health and health overall. We have a social support group named Just Talking, a Harm Reduction program, an arts program affectionately named Paint with Pride and a newly added program, Immunity in the Community. This is what brings me joy: knowing every decision made about Louisville Pride Center — big or small — will impact our community in a positive way.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, listening to music and bowling, which is my favorite hobby. Yes, that’s right… I’m an avid bowler and have been since I was 5. Only now does it seem to be becoming popular. Go figure!
I’m grateful to be in the position I am in. I don’t take this responsibility lightly. I look forward to meeting you at one of our events or attending one of our programs. There are many more being added to the Louisville Pride Center calendar in 2024. Now that you know me a little better, I’d like to meet many of you. If you haven’t had the opportunity to tour the center or attend one of our many programs and events, please come visit. If you can’t visit, please leave a comment below or follow our social media to keep up to date on everything Louisville Pride related. Your experience will most certainly be special!
Thank you,
Ebony Cross
